The Florida Golf Tour was started in 1996. We had played on many Senior Mini Tours and seen the short comings, heard the complaints and believed we could offer something that would be agreeable to most players. So we decided to give it a try. Twelve years later and we're still here.  However, since the change in format of the Champions Tour, there are far less senior players available.

Many changes have been made since our first event at Sherman Hills G.C. back in 1996.  The most significant of those was made in 2006.  In 2005 we went to a two division format.  This was to allow our higher scoring players to still have a place to play and have a chance to make a check.  In 2006 our sub par players said, "bring on the kids".  It will make the purses and field sizes bigger.  So, we changed our Champions Division to the Open Division, which is now open to players of all ages.  Our Tour Division is strictly for senior players.

Over the years many of our players have gone on to play the on the Champions Tour and the Senior European  Tour.  Our players include past PGA Tour players.  Players such as Mike Smith, Brad Bryant, Gary Koch, David Canipe, Fred Gibson, Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, Al Kelley, Doug Johnson, Kenny Knox, Bob Lendzion, Bill Longmuir, Dwight Nevil, David and Pete Oakley, John Ross, David Spittle, Delroy Cambridge, Jay Dolan, Nick Job, our all time money leader Jim Chancey, Mitch Adcock, Mike Sullivan, Dave Rummells, Evan "Big Cat" Williams, Steve Thomas, Beau Baugh, Rex Caldwell, James Mason and the player our Tour Championship is named after, J.C. Goosie have graced our fields.  As you can see our players come from all over the world.

Our fields may not be large, but our players have a great time and enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow competitors.

So, check out our web site, and if you still have any questions, E-mail us or give us a phone call.  Come on out and join the fun.  Ladies you are welcome too!
